EDLD 5317 Post on A More Engaging Classroom Using Google

How Can You Have A More Engaging and Happier Classroom? I would like to share my story and experiences on how using G suites is creating a learning environment of happier and engaging students and parents. The great thing is this can happen in any classroom and does not matter what the subject or grade level of your students. I have colleagues that have the same success in using G suites in their classroom. A quote that we should all go by came from John Dewey, “If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” (John Dewey Image) Our students live in a digital world so we should be using technology to engage our students. This is what makes them happy and how they learn in today’s world. We must prepare them with the tools for tomorrow by integrating the use of technology into their learning environment. Technology is the future and we must allow them to use these tools today. We are a Google for education school along with being a 1

EDLD 5315 Week 1 Discussion

My EDLD 5315 Discussion Post On Action Research As I went through the videos and readings I was able to learn about action research. The one area that I came across that sets it different than traditional research to me is reflection. In action research it allows the teacher a process of making improvements through a 4 phase and 9 step process. It allows the teacher to identify the problem and what they want to work on improving in the classroom. It continues by allowing them to reflect on that process and revise it even more. I feel that I have grown as an educator during my master program because of reflection. I feel I have learned and put into practice reflection on every aspect of my classroom and instruction. This is ultimately has helped me become a better educator and trying new areas that I may have normally not tried. I feel this new concept of action research goes together with this reflection process, which will result in improving my practice as an educat

EDLD 5316 Reflection for Week 1

Digital Citizenship Reflection Mitchell Madden Lamar University – EDLD5316             As I went through the readings for the week, discussions, videos and assignments I noticed there was way more to digital citizenship then I initially thought. I also had a feeling that we have more work to do as a global community on teaching students and all digital citizens on proper digital citizenship. Ribble defines digital citizenship as, “the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use” (Ribble, 2015). My actual definition for digital citizenship is the safe, proper, legal, and ethical behavior that one should demonstrate in the digital world. All definitions that I came across had one theme in common, which was proper behavior in the digital world.             I continued my learning of what it digital citizenship means and came across the nine elements of digital citizenship. Those nine elements were broken up into three categories and three princ

EDLD 5314 Reflection

EDLD 5314 Reflection I started out my EDLD 5314 with needing to come up with an area that I wanted to research and find out more about in helping to create an innovation plan. It was clear from my previous research that our school does a good job on the state exams, but what was missing was creating an atmosphere for developing higher order thinking skills that would lead to mastery of the exams. So my topic that I wanted to do more with was using the flipped classroom approach to gain more class time for actual higher order thinking activities. I wanted to tie this into e-portfolio’s that are a great resource that I learned about from a previous course. Using an e-portfolio with the flipped classroom approach would lead students to take more ownership on their learning and reflecting on their individual learning. It would also show their growth as students and how their higher order thinking skills were developing by using the flipped classroom model.  As I started m
